What kind of time commitment would I be making?
Some people may be available to serve monthly while others may want to serve more often. There are opportunities to serve for people with every type of schedule.
How do I get involved?
Below is a menu of service opportunities. Fill out the online form to sign up to serve or to get more information about any particular service opportunity.
Ushering
Arrive 15 minutes early for either the 9 AM or 10:15 AM service in Manayunk or 11:30 AM service in Center City – help people find seats, handle any problems or needs that present themselves, receive the offering, monitor hallways and children’s areas during the service, etc.
Greeting
Arrive 30 minutes early for either the 9 AM or 10:15 AM service in Manayunk or 11:30 AM service in Center City. You will be assigned to a station such as the front door, the welcome center, or the auditorium doors and welcoming people arriving at Epic on Sunday morning. This requires remaining at your post until either 9:30 or 10:45 AM in Manayunk or 12 PM in Center City.
Children's Check-In
Arrive 30 minutes early for either the 9 AM or 10:15 AM service in Manayunk or 11:30 AM service in Center City. You will help parents by checking in their children using the automated system that produces name tags and registers kids for specific classrooms. Assist newcomers through process of filling out a registration form and showing them to classrooms for their children based on age.
Hospitality
Helping to set up the refreshments, make coffee, etc. and/or help clean up after the service. This requires arriving at about 7:30 AM to set up.
Set-up team
Arrive at 7 AM in Manayunk to help bring cases from the storage unit and assist in putting up signs, setting up the sound system, stuffing programs, getting the auditorium ready, putting together lobby and children’s spaces, etc. In Center City, arrive at 9:30 AM to help with similar tasks at that location.
Tear-down team
In Manayunk, stay after the service to put everything back in the cases and roll them over to the storage unit. In Center City, stay after to get signs, supplies, and equipment back into storage.
Band
If you play an instrument or sing, we’d love for you to audition for the team. We’re always looking for additions to the band in both Manyunk and Center City.
Tech team
Learn how to run the video/slides; run the sound board; run the lights in both Manayunk and Center City.
Graphic arts
Working with Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator to graphics for media presentations, programs, and other print materials.
Epic Kids or Nursery
We have roles in both Manayunk and Center City for people who love holding babies, who enjoy teaching preschoolers, or who want to teach or assist with elementary-age kids. Persons working with kids will receive on-the-job training and a background check..
